Why plaid?

The plaid pattern represents the weaving of the individual threads of small businesses together to create a strong fabric that celebrates the diversity and creativity of independent businesses. Well… that pretty much describes our downtown in Prince George. With over 90 shops and special services, 35 cafes and restaurants, and so much more, the downtown has nailed creativity and diversity.

Why Friday?

Love Downtown PG connects our community with the many independent and locally owned businesses that are the heart and soul of Downtown Prince George. Plaid Friday has become our local campaign that reminds our community about these amazing businesses and encourages you to keep your holiday shopping and celebrating dollars in the city! This year we celebrate Plaid Friday on Friday, November 26th.

How can you participate?

1. Sign up for the Paid Friday eNewsletter!

Plaid Friday is going be a great start to your holiday shopping and celebrating. Our Downtown businesses have lots of specials and surprises waiting for you to enjoy. So, if you want to find out what’s happening downtown, we encourage you to sign up for our Love Downtown PG eNewsletter to get a ‘sneak peek’ at the Plaid Friday specials at your favourite downtown businesses. Visit the Downtown Prince George website to sign up.

2. Come downtown and get your plaid on!

On November 26th, show your Plaid Friday spirit and support our downtown businesses all day long. Make sure to look for some extra fun between 4pm and 6pm. During this time, if you get caught by the PLAID PATROL wearing plaid or using one of the special Love Downtown PG shopping bags, you may find yourself with some awesome LOVEBUCKS to spend at your favourite downtown business. While you are supporting our downtown you can enjoy some festive music and enter to win one of our special Plaid Friday Gift Baskets by finding a special QR code in our participating downtown businesses and submitting your online entry. Plaid enthusiasts may be rewarded with free treats like hot chocolate from our friends at Zoe’s Java House or delicious popcorn provided by Farmhouse Catering.

3. Just wear plaid and share with us!

Everyone loves to wear plaid, so just wear plaid with your friends, family, or colleagues. Share your photo on Facebook and be eligible to win a LUNCH for SIX at your favourite downtown restaurant.
